The Science Centre plays an important role in popularizing science, and making it accessible to the masses, said Raipur Rural MLA Satyanarayan Sharma.
He was addressing the event organized on the 12th foundation day of Chhattisgarh Regional Science Centre, at Saddu, Raipur. He also launched the website of the Regional Science Centre.
Sharma said the Centre for the past 12 years had been playing a crucial role to increase interest in science among children and how to make science subjects interesting.
Former Director General,National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata, G. S. Rautela presided over.
Science quiz, science model exhibition, scientific lecture and science drawing competition were organized by 500 students from different schools. Certificates to the participants and category-wise prizes to the selected excellent students.
Director General S.S. Bajaj expressed the commitment of the Centre for continuous work at the state level in the field of popularization of science.
He said the main objective of the Chhattisgarh Regional Science Center is to encourage the scientific temperament of the society and to develop logical scientific thinking in them. The centre is involved in various activities, interactive exhibitions available like measurement, resources of state and entertainment science galleries, temporary exhibition halls, children's corner, science demonstration corner, planetarium, 3-D theater facility, science garden, and reading room-cum-seminar.
