RAIPUR: Health and Family Welfare, Government of Chhattisgarh on Monday issued an advisory to use mosquito nets to prevent dengue and malaria.

The advisory states that with the rainy season, the filth is the biggest reason for the spread of dengue and malaria.  The spread is promoted by their growth in water logged areas and apart from lack of proper drainage of rain water in highly populated areas.

Director, Epidemic Control Dr. Subhash Mishra said the initial symptoms of dengue are similar to common fever or viral fever, due to which people ignore it. Due to the carelessness and lack of information, people have to lose their lives. In the rainy season, if one has problems like fever, severe headache for several days continuously, then get the dengue test done immediately.

Mishra said dengue is caused by the bite of the Aedes mosquito and this mosquito thrives in clean water. The mosquito usually bites during the day and it thrives in stagnant water such as coolers, tanks or utensils kept in the open in the house in which the water has not been changed for many days or at the place of water accumulation. The cooler, tank or other utensils used in homes where water gets accumulated should be changed completely once a week.
