CG NEWS: Dry Day on Gandhi Jayanti

RAIPUR: The district administrations of Chhattisgarh on Friday issued notification for declaring October 2 as a dry day on Gandhi Jayanti.

The order states that all the country/ foreign liquor storage warehouses located in the districts will be closed. All the retail shops of country liquor and foreign liquor, restaurant bars, retail shops of ‘Bhang’ and ‘Bhanggota’ located in the districts will be kept closed. Any liquor shop, hotel, restaurant, club and any other establishment/ person selling or serving liquor, whatever they may be, should not be allowed to sell and serve liquor.

Non-proprietary clubs, restaurants, star hotels and hotels run by anyone will also not be allowed to sell and serve liquor. The personal storage of liquor and storage of liquor in unlicensed premises will be strictly prohibited and action will be taken to confiscate them. Taking effective steps to prevent transportation and sale of illegal liquor, officers have been asked to investigate possible locations and vehicles for storing illegal liquor and to register crimes against the culprits.
