CG NEWS: Closing Ceremony of ‘Sangathan-2023’, Amity University

RAIPUR: Sangathan-2023, a month-long mega event celebrated every year with great fervour at Amity University, concluded with a march-past, student cultural shows, and the presenting of prizes to an outstanding throng of Faculty and Students on Wednesday. 

On September 12, student athletes from throughout the University competed in the inaugural Sangathan multi-sport competition. Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Piyush Kant Pandey presided over the ceremony. Various sporting events such as Indoor and outdoor competitions included chess, table tennis, and cricket, as well as the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4x100-meter relays, long jump, shot put, and discus throw were conducted.   

Prof. Pandey applauded Amity's founding president, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, in his closing remarks. He stated that "sports teach students how to face adversity." He went on to clarify that Sangathan is a sporting event that teaches everyone how to cooperate well with others. Professor Pandey shared a tale with the students and staff to emphasize the necessity of contributing to progress and development by working for it rather than against it.   

Prof. (Dr.) Sumita Dave, Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (Academics), stated that in sports, both winning and losing are unavoidable. She advised students to find time for both schoolwork and athletics. Prof. (Dr.) Surendra Rahamatkar, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration), stated that all sports participants are motivated to pursue careers in sports. Amity Business School won the annual sports meet with 209 points, 13 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals. Amity School of Engineering and Technology comes in second with 190 points and 7 golds, 10 silvers, and 10 bronzes. The Prize Distribution programme bestowed 90 medals, 30 gold, 30 silver and 30 bronze, on worthy students. At the ceremony, the 'Radio Amity Raipur' Android Mobile App was also introduced. As the closing ceremony came to a close, students performed a variety of joyful cultural performances. In the students' dance performance, Onam, Durga Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Raja, Janmastami, Maha Shivratri, Gangour, Hindu Navvarsh, and Navratri are all featured. In cultural competition Amity Law School won the first prize by performing dance of Ganesh Chaturthi, Amity School of Architecture and Planning won second prize with Gangour dance performance, and Amity Business School won third prize with the Durga Puja performance.    

Dr. Suresh Dhyani, Registrar, expressed gratitude, and Dr. Prasanna Kumar Sharma, Dean of Student Welfare, presented the Sangathan 2023 report. Dr. Sharma thanked everyone on the Sangathan committee who had put in so much time and effort to make this massive event a success. All of the University's Deans, Directors, Institute and Department Heads, faculty, staff, and students attended the closing ceremony.
