CHHATTISGARH: NTPC Lara joined hands with nationwide observance of National Fire Service Week (FSW) on 14th April 2024. Akhilesh Singh, HOP (Lara) flagged-off the programme and paid floral tribute to the martyr of Bombay dock yard held on 14th April 1944. Addressing the gathering Akhilesh Singh, stressed on NTPC’s preparedness to avert and arrest any unforeseen happenings related to fire. During this period various awareness generating activities like competitions, firefighting demonstrations will be made by CISF fire wing cadets for understanding of employees, housewives and the public.
Fire service week is observed during the onset of summer to make people aware about various fire incidents and the process to mitigate such incidents under the guidance of the Fire Adviser, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India during April 14 – 20. This is observed in remembrance of the lives lost in the devastating fire that erupted and the explosions that followed on 14th April, 1944 at the Victoria Dock in the Mumbai Port and also to prevent fire in all industries. This year the theme of fire service week is “Ensure fire safety to contribute towards nation building”.
The National Safety Council (NSC) has been promoting the FSW Campaign since 1999 with a view to propagate Fire Safety awareness amongst employees, their families and the public.
On this occasion Rajeev Ranjan, GM (O&M), Ravi Shankar, GM (Project), Mahabir Singh, Dy-Commandant, CISF, Devendra Nath, Asst-Commandant, CISF, Head of Departments, employees and CISF personnel were present.
