CG NEWS: Right to education: District level committee formed

RAIPUR,CG: For effective implementation of the Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Act (RTE), 2009, a district level committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the District Collector in Chhattisgarh on Friday.

The state government order issued states, the 9-member district level committee includes the Collector, Superintendent of Police, Chief Executive Officer (District Panchayat), Commissioner, Municipal Corporation/Chief Municipality Officer, Assistant Commissioner, SC, ST, District Coordinator, Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, one principal and one parent have been made members. The District Education Officer will be the member secretary of the committee.

It will be the responsibility of the district level committee to make continuous efforts to retain the RTE students admitted in non-aided non-government schools under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 in the districts till the completion of their education.

The panel will ensure admission of students selected through lottery in the portal and to ensure that there is no discrimination against these students in schools. All non-aided non-government schools running in the districts are registered on the portal.

Similarly, under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, schools are to provide school textbooks, uniforms and stationery to the students free of cost. Make sure it is followed. The district level committee will organize quarterly review meetings regularly. It will be responsible for the successful operation of the scheme in the district by developing a system of intensive inspection of schools. The District Collector, Chairman of the District Level Committee, will nominate one principal and one guardian as members of the committee.
