RAIPUR,CG: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Monday underlined the need to promote pulses, oilseeds, horticulture crops in Chhattisgarh.
He was holding a meeting with the high level delegation including Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi.
Chauhan held discussions on Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi, Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, National Agricultural Development Scheme, Pulses, Oilseeds, Horticulture, Namo Drone Didi, Oil Palm Mission and other schemes and programs of the Government of India.
He said that the farmers of Chhattisgarh will not be allowed to face any problem at the central level, for this the central and state governments will continue to work together. He also mentioned the policy of the Central Government to promote pulses and oilseeds.
The Union Minister said that there will be adequate availability of inputs like fertilizers, seeds in the Kharif season.
Keeping in view the potential of soybean crop in Chhattisgarh, emphasis was laid on promoting soybean crop. Netam informed the Union Agriculture Minister regarding the availability, storage and distribution of fertilizers and seeds in the state. He briefed regarding various public welfare schemes being run by the state government in the interest of farmers.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Secretary Sanjeev Chopra along with senior officials of agriculture and horticulture departments of the Centre and state were also present.
