Education is most powerful weapon: Governor

DURG,CG: Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka on Wednesday quoting Dr. Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world. Now it is up to you to prove it. I advise all of you to try to work for the society at large and contribute to innovation, entrepreneurship and start-ups which is the need of the hour”.

He was addressing the second convocation ceremony of Hemchand Yadav University, Durg. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was also present.

He said see the moment as moving from a protected environment to one where one constantly learns from the world. Huge challenges and opportunities await in the future. This is the moment to take important decisions in life. The profession one chooses depends on talents and various skills. It is essential to constantly strive to acquire more knowledge as well as develop soft skills and become a good human being.

The Governor said that the Chhattisgarh government is implementing the National Education Policy 2020 from the current academic year 2024-25. NEP 2020 emphasizes on the need for skill development along with education. Its objective is to prepare students for entrepreneurship, and make them 'job creators' rather than 'job seekers'.

He further said the world may change from top to bottom, but some core values never change. They are honesty, truthfulness, respect for self and others, hard work, personal integrity. Today it is the duty that these core values are not defeated. Development cannot be sustained without social equality.

The Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai pledged the construction of UTD in the university and the construction of an auditorium in the under-construction building on the demand of the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
