KATHMANDU,NEPAL: The "International Conference on Gender Inclusion in National Human Rights Institutions" was inaugurated today in Kathmandu by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The event, organized by the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Forum of Nepal NHRI, has brought together over 150 delegates from 19 countries, including India, from the Asia Pacific region. The conference aims to address and mitigate global gender inequality.
During the opening session, Commission Chairman Top Bahadur Magar emphasized the event's focus on reducing widespread gender disparities. Key attendees included Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Navalkishore Shah Sudi, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women Kamla Parajuli, Member of the National Human Rights Commission Dr. Lily Thapa, and Kyoko Yokosu, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Nepal. Abdullah Al Atiyat, President of the World Forum of National Human Rights Organizations, also contributed via a video message.The conference will run until September 5.
