Salary hike of doctors in Government Medical Colleges

RAIPUR,CG: The Public Health and Family Planning Department, Government of Chhattisgarh in a significant decision has given salary hike to senior residents, demonstrators (PG), assistant professors, associate professors, and professors in government medical colleges. The order will be effective from 1st September 2024, across all government medical colleges in the state.

The order of Department of Medical Education, states that the salary of professors in medical colleges located in non-scheduled areas has been increased from Rs 1.55 lakh to Rs 1.90 lakh. Similarly, the salary of associate professors has been raised from Rs 1.35 lakh to Rs 1.55 lakh, assistant professors' salaries have increased from Rs 90,000 to Rs 1 lakh, and the salaries of senior residents and demonstrators (PG) have been enhanced from Rs 65,000 to Rs 75,000.

In the medical colleges located in Scheduled areas, the salary of professors has been increased from Rs 1.90 lakh to Rs 2.25 lakh. The salary of associate professors has been raised from Rs 1.55 lakh to Rs 1.85 lakh, assistant professors' salaries have been increased from Rs 90,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh, and the salaries of senior residents and demonstrators (PG) have been enhanced from Rs 65,000 to Rs 95,000.

As per the revised contractual salary structure for government medical college doctors, there has been a salary hike of approximately 46% in Scheduled areas and 23% in non-scheduled areas.

Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal stated that there would be no compromise when it comes to expanding healthcare facilities in the state. He emphasized that it is the right of future doctors studying in government medical colleges to receive high-quality education from well-qualified teachers. This salary hike order clearly reflects the state government's intent to strengthen the healthcare sector.
