Vajpayee was a true public leader: Khan

BILASPUR: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, speaking at the 'Kul Utsav' event on the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, described him as a true public leader, universally respected across all sections of society.

He was addressing the three-day 'Kul Utsav' organized by Atal Bihari Vajpayee University, Bilaspur, to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Governor paid tribute to the former Prime Minister by garlanding his statue and planting a sapling on the university campus. Various publications, including the new issue of the university's quarterly magazine Kanhar, were also released during the event.

"Atal Ji’s ability to make swift and decisive choices on complex issues in the national interest is a hallmark of his enduring legacy," Khan said, adding that his contributions to India will always be remembered.

Reflecting on India's rich tradition of knowledge, the Governor emphasized the transformative power of education. "Human development and empowerment are possible only through knowledge and education. India's culture has always celebrated wisdom and learning, making it a beacon of knowledge for the world," he stated.

Union Minister Tokhan Sahu praised Vajpayee's legacy, calling him a once-in-centuries leader whose life story is a source of inspiration. “Atal Ji worked tirelessly for the welfare of humanity. His leadership, reflected in milestones like the Pokhran nuclear tests, exemplified strength and determination. We should strive to follow his path,” Sahu said while also reciting Vajpayee’s poetry.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao highlighted Vajpayee’s contributions to nation-building and his role in granting Chhattisgarh statehood. “Atal Ji made India self-reliant and empowered through his visionary leadership. Today, Chhattisgarh is progressing because of his efforts. To honor his memory, Atal Complexes are being developed in 187 urban bodies across the state,” Sao remarked.

Vice Chancellor Acharya Arun Diwakar Nath Vajpayee welcomed attendees and presented a report on the university's academic and institutional achievements, showcasing the university's progress in keeping with Vajpayee’s visionary ideals.
