RAIPUR,INDIA: Acting on complaints of irregularities in construction work, the Chhattisgarh Housing Board has suspended two engineers and initiated proceedings to blacklist the contractor involved. The action was taken on the instructions of Housing and Environment Minister OP Chaudhary, underlining the state government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
Executive Engineer C.K. Thakur and Assistant Engineer Neeraj Thakur of the Housing Board’s Jagdalpur office were suspended following an investigation. A notice has been issued to blacklist contractor M/s N.K. Construction Durg and cancel its registration. A probe conducted at the Housing Board headquarters revealed financial irregularities and delays in construction projects for GAD residential buildings in Bhairamgarh, Bhopalpatnam, and Usoor (Aavapalli) blocks of Bijapur district. The investigation uncovered instances of payments made for incomplete work, overpayment for construction exceeding the scope of the contract, and financial discrepancies dating back to the previous government.
Minister OP Chaudhary reiterated the state government’s resolve to ensure transparency and accountability in public works. “The government, under Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, is dedicated to maintaining quality in construction projects and upholding administrative integrity. Irregularities will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” he said.
