CG: Biometric attendance introduced in Raipur Collectorate

RAIPUR,INDIA: The Raipur Collectorate has implemented a biometric attendance system for all officers and employees. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, and transparency within government offices.

Employees are required to register their attendance at 10 a.m. upon arrival and update their departure at 5:30 p.m. Officers and employees with Android and iOS mobile devices are using a specially designed app featuring face recognition technology, enabling attendance registration via a selfie. For employees using key-pad mobiles, thumb biometric devices have been installed in the Superintendent's office to facilitate attendance recording.

The system, adopted by staff across all levels—from first-class officers to fourth-class employees—is a step towards promoting digital solutions in governance. It ensures accurate tracking of employee attendance and aims to improve timeliness and the quality of public services.

The new attendance system has already created a noticeable change in the Collectorate, with employees arriving promptly and actively addressing public concerns. Plans are in place to extend this system to other government offices after its successful implementation at the Collectorate. After its implementation only one employee was found absent out of more than 180 staff.
