NARAYANPUR,CG(INDIA): Security forces have once again thwarted a major Naxalite conspiracy in the forests of Gattakal in Narayanpur district. During an ongoing anti-Naxal operation, a 5 kg pressure cooker IED planted by Naxalites was safely recovered and defused by the bomb disposal squad.
The operation was launched as part of intensified area domination activities led by Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar, following recent IED blasts by Maoists that caused significant damage. In response, teams are being regularly dispatched to detect and neutralize hidden explosives.
A joint team comprising personnel from the District Police Force, 53rd Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) carried out a search operation in and around Gattakal village. During the sweep, they detected the IED hidden along a forest trail. Thanks to their alertness, the bomb was neutralized on the spot without any harm.
Officials believe the device was planted by Maoists with the intent to target patrolling forces. It marks the 16th IED recovered in the district this year, indicating the rebels’ ongoing attempts to instigate violence and disrupt peace in the region.
