CG News: Call 10-day winter session: Chandel

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Leader of Opposition Narayan Chandel on Wednesday raised the demand to hold a 10-day winter session to discuss a host of issues related to people instead of two-day special session on reservation.

Chandel said to the media that it seems the state government wants to escape from holding the discussions during the winter session. Instead of holding a two-day session on reservation, let it be held for 10-days so that extensive public oriented issues can be discussed in detail.

As far as tribal reservation is concerned, he said the state government could have issued an ordinance of 32 percent instead of calling a two-day special session. It is a clear opinion of the Bharatiya Janata Party even before and even now that the 32 percent reservation should remain intact, he added.

State government is doing double speak on the issue. The decision regarding the ST reservation by the High Court of Chhattisgarh came in the month of October. No steps were taken for issuing an ordinance on 32 percent reservation, he said.

Now calling a special session on the issue is just playing politics with the interests of the tribal community, he added.
