RAIPUR: The magic show brought smiles and boosted morale of children suffering from cancer on Thursday at Regional Cancer Institute, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, here.
The magic show was organised to mark Children's Day, for the children suffering from cancer to boost their morale and bring a sense of joy as they undergo the treatment, an official communication said.
Somesh Thapa, a magician from Korba, taught the little ones how to make a rope out of tissue paper, use a rope to make a wooden stick, turn a white page into a colouring book, make cards disappear, fill toffees in an empty pot and change the colour of a bouquet of flowers.
As the magician tossed the handkerchief in the air. The voices of “Abra Ka Dabra Gili Gili Chhu…” came out from the mouths of the little ones sitting in the audience gallery as the handkerchief disappeared.
Dr. (Prof.) Pradeep Chandrakar of the cancer department said that there is a separate ward for children in the department. Fun games, fashion shows, cooking competitions and music shows are organized on a regular basis.
It is to dispel the fear and create enthusiasm among children so that they do not have any fear in coming to the hospital for treatment. Care is taken to keep the atmosphere enjoyable even during the treatment of children, he added
Mumbai-based Cuddles Foundation, which works for cancer victims, had helped to organise the event. The foundation works on complete nutrition through dietary guidance and provides additional food items to the children.
Grocery items are also distributed every month to 35 families from economically poor and deprived backgrounds.
