BILASPUR: Every citizen of the country is expected to have knowledge about the law and the constitution of the country. He should also follow it, said Anand Prakash Wariyal, Member Secretary, Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority (CGSLSA) Bilaspur on Saturday.
He was addressing as chief guest of a seminar organised jointly by CGSLSA and Atal Bihari Vajpayee University, Bilaspur to mark the ‘National Constitution Day’ at university auditorium. The topic was ‘India is mother of all democracies’.
He said a person cannot escape by saying that he did not have knowledge of the law. CGSLSA is holding a special campaign to provide legal awareness, free legal aid and services to the people. Social media is also being used for it.
University Vice Chancellor Arun Diwakar Nath Bajpai said the constitution provides security to the citizens. The rights of citizens are also included. But the time has come where it is the responsibility of citizens that the rights of animals, trees, plants, and rivers, on which the survival depends are protected.
Kamini Jaiswal, Under Secretary said that the Indian constitution is the longest in the world. It took 2 years, 11 months and 17 days by 284 members of the Constituent Assembly to prepare it. It is an invariable fact that in each generation establishes principles and invent new rules according to their need.
The framers of the constitution understood the fact that the provisions were made to amend the constitutional provisions from time to time, she said.
