RAIPUR: The last six phases of the malaria-free Chhattisgarh campaign have yielded good results in the state. The Annual Parasite Index (API) of Chhattisgarh which was 2.63 in the year 2018 has now come down to 0.92 in 2022, said Director, Epidemic Control Dr. Subhash Mishra. The Health and Family Welfare Department organized the seventh phase of the Malaria-free Chhattisgarh campaign and detected 7,930 people found positive out of a total 9,30,820 people screened in four districts, he said. Mishra said the Annual Parasite Index (API) of Chhattisgarh which was 2.63 in the year 2018 has now come down to 0.92 in 2022. He said that in the seventh phase of the Malaria-free Chhattisgarh campaign, 1,959 survey teams checked for malaria in 1,83,796 houses in four districts of Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur and Sukma. Door-to-door visit was done to check malaria. The survey teams motivated the people to use mosquito nets and other steps to prevent malaria. Chemicals were sprayed in stagnated water bodies or accumulated near the houses, he added. He said in phase wise drives, there has been a marked decrease in the number of malaria patients. Immediate treatment was also being extended to the positive cases. The mitanins were also conducting follow up.
