CG NEWS: Mould students to be sensitive citizens: Governor

Holds review meeting of vice-chancellors of government universities at Raj Bhavan

RAIPUR (CG): Today's youth are our future. The responsibility of tomorrow lies on them. Therefore, they should not be limited to the activities of the university, but go among the common citizens, understand their problems and discharge their role as responsible citizens, said Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan on Tuesday.

He said universities have a big responsibility to make students sensitive and patriotic citizens. Everyone should work together to provide better education to the students so that everyone can move towards a self-reliant India.

He was holding the review of educational activities, research work and other works of all the 15 government universities of the state at Raj Bhawan.

Review of status of implementation of National Education Policy 2020, status of evaluation of universities and affiliated colleges by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council), grading and efforts by institutions was done.

Recruitment and appointment to academic posts in universities, the MoU signed between the university and other higher educational institutions, observance of academic session, timely release of examinations and results, and information about special research, innovation was also undertaken for review.

The Vice Chancellors of all the universities briefed on the activities of their universities.

Governor said that placement cells and career counselling cells should not be a passive cell, rather they should actively suggest career options and vacancies to the students.

He said that research and development is an integral part of universities. In this regard, facilities and encouragement should be given to the students. Research related to forest wealth, agriculture and agricultural resources should be promoted in this state rich in natural resources.
