RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Ashok Juneja on Monday said in view of the increasing number of crimes like cyber crime, cheating and blackmailing, the police officers need to be more vigilant.
He was addressing the inaugural session of two-day Google and Paytm cyber training program at Police Headquarters, Nava-Raipur.
Cyber nodal police officers (Additional/Deputy Superintendent of Police level) and police officers in charge of district cyber cell and range level police stationed at cyber police stations from all districts are participating.
Officers/employees will be trained to prevent cyber fraud and police officers to take quick action.
Juneja said that apart from the IT Act, the Data Protection Act 2023 has also come into force. The provisions have been made to deal with the increasing cases of cyber fraud and to arrest the criminals and get them punished by the court.
He asked all police officers that updated information in cases of cyber fraud should be available both in hard and soft copy so that the complaint of the applicant or complainant can be resolved as soon as possible.
The officer should act expeditiously by coordinating with the police officers of other states to curb the crimes committed by cyber criminals sitting in other states and arrest the criminals, he said.
Additional Director General of Police Pradeep Gupta said catching the criminal, collecting evidence and presenting the criminal before the court, is a big challenge for the police. It is important for the police to be trained in the latest technology and mode.
A team of trained officers from Google and Paytm gave detailed information on topics related to LERS (Law Enforcement Request System) portal, fraud, emergency request, fraud trend, business, transaction, monitoring.
The Paytm team explained in detail about the working of online banking and the steps taken to prevent cybercrime.
