CG NEWS: National Eklavya School Sports Festival in Mysore

Raipur, CG: National Eklavya Vidyalaya Sports Festival 2023-24 will be organized in Mysore (Karnataka) from January 8 to January 12, 2024.

The state level selection trial for participation in the National Sports Festival has started from Wednesday. It will conclude on December 16th.

Commissioner and ex-officio Secretary, Chhattisgarh State Level Tribal Welfare, Residential and Ashram Educational Institutions Committee, Shammi Abidi has issued necessary guidelines to the concerned officials regarding the National Eklavya Vidyalaya Sports Festival.

In the National Eklavya Vidyalaya Sports Mahotsav 2023-24, individual sports competitions of archery, athletics and yoga will be organized for boys and girls in 14 and 19 age groups. Similarly, group sports competitions of basketball, football, handball, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho and volleyball have been included for boys and girls of 19 years of age group.

To prepare the state level team, a preliminary selection of 795 players has been made by holding a meeting with the exercise teachers of Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools at the state level on December 9.

A selection committee has been formed for the state level selection trial. After the first screening, the committee will select players on December 16 as per the national standards for various disciplines. The state level selection trial committee includes sports officers-coaches of Sports and Youth Welfare, trainers of Games India, sports officers-coaches of the Education Department, sports related federation trainers and sports officers and coaches of the Tribal Welfare Department.

For the state level selection trial, there will be a selection test for Yoga players at Prayas Vidyalaya, Raipur on  December 13th, Kho-Kho on December 14th at Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla Vishwavidyalaya campus, football on December 15th and handball players on December 16th.
