Under the Khelo India Scheme launched by the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Khelo India Centres have been approved in 31 districts of Chhattisgarh state. It includes tribal dominated districts like Narayanpur, Sukma, Bijapur, Jashpur, Balrampur, Dantewada, Surguja. Similarly, along with 31 Khelo India Centres, the Government of India has also approved three Khelo India Excellence Centres for hockey, athletics and archery in Bilaspur of the state, which will provide international level facilities for modern sports equipment and training for the players. Financial assistance is being provided for trainers, physiotherapists etc. and other facilities.

Financial approval of Rs 5 lakh per year for infrastructure development and upgradation work, sports equipment, etc. in Khelo India Centres and Rs 2 lakh per year for sports material, apparel etc. will be received from the Government of India. Similarly, the instructor will be given an honorarium of Rs 25,000 per month. This scheme has helped a lot in preparing budding national and international level players in the state.
