Knowledge of new techniques to contribute for efficiency: Minister

RAIPUR,CG: Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao on Tuesday said knowledge of new techniques of road and bridge construction will increase the efficiency of engineers.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the four-day training organized by the Indian Academy of Highway Engineers (IAHE – Indian Academy of Highway Engineers), Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the engineers of Raipur and Durg divisions of the Public Works Department at Naveen Vishram Bhawan, Raipur.

Sao said the training will expose the engineers to new and modern techniques of design, construction and maintenance of culverts and small and medium bridges. It will help in ensuring quality construction and maintenance of culverts and small and medium bridges in the state.

He adds, there is no age for learning. As long as a person works, he keeps learning continuously. With time, the needs of the workplace change and new technologies come.

He said that today the traffic on the roads is continuously increasing, fast vehicles have also arrived. Keeping these in mind, it is necessary to strictly follow safety standards in the construction of roads and bridges.

Sao said that the Public Works Department does DPR, tender agreement, quality inspection and control and payment for various construction works in the state. Therefore, it is also the responsibility of the department to ensure quality, safety standards and adherence to deadlines in construction works.

IAHE Director Sanjeev Kumar, former Chief Scientist of CRRI (Central Road Research Institute) Dr. Lakshmi Parameswaran and Satinder Kumar and others will impart the training.
