RAIPUR,CG: On day one of the new laws being implemented across the country, Chhattisgarh registered two First Information Reports and one case on Monday.
Across the state, in the police stations, with the aim of providing information about these laws, initiatives are being taken to make people aware on a large scale.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said July 1 is a historic day for the country. Three new criminal laws are coming into force across the country from today. All these laws will be effective in place of the laws implemented by the British 150 years ago.
He released a booklet based on new criminal laws by the Home Department at his residence office in Raipur.
He said these three laws have been made with the aim of providing justice to all the citizens. It should be ensured that it is better implemented in the state. He said that the objectives of the Indian Justice Code, Indian Civil Defense Code and Indian Evidence Act are also reflected in their names. In these, justice has been given priority instead of punishment. The law will prove to be an important step towards fulfilling the guarantee of justice and security of the Government of India.
Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Pingua and Director General of Police Ashok Juneja said emphasis was laid on deliberation and action along with inter-departmental coordination to achieve the objective of providing justice.
The new law mainly includes changes in colonial laws, women's safety and justice, terrorism, organized crime and crimes against India's sovereignty, unity and integrity, victim-centric legal provisions, scientific techniques in research, provisions for digital and electronic evidence, Provisions related to judicial procedure have been included. Indian Judicial Code 2023 was notified in place of Indian Penal Code 1860. The Indian Civil Protection Code 2023 has been notified in place of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 and the Indian Evidence Act 2023 has been notified in place of the Indian Evidence Act 1872.
