Kashyap discuss tribal issues of state

RAIPUR/DELHI: Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap paid a courtesy visit to Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram discussing the tribal issues during his one-day trip to Delhi on Tuesday.

They had a meaningful discussion on various tribal issues of the state. Kashyap apprised him of the various welfare schemes being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, highlighting the government's commitment to the protection and uplift of the tribes in the state.

Kashyap briefed the Union Minister that under the Minimum Support Price Scheme, the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (Trading & Development) Co-operative Federation Limited on behalf of the Chhattisgarh Government, has been purchasing minor forest produce from about 6.5 lakh tribal families since 2014-15. He stated that Chhattisgarh has suffered a loss of Rs 52.18 crore in the trade from 2014-15 to 2019-20. Kashyap requested reimbursement amounting to 75 per cent of the loss i.e. Rs 39.14 crore, and additional working capital of Rs 200 crore to ensure the smooth purchase of minor forest produce at support prices.
