KANKER,CG: A soldier, a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh posted on the Naxal front committed suicide by shooting himself on Wednesday under Tadoki police station area.
Rakesh Kumar, resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was posted as constable in the 33rd battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal. His duty was in Kosaronda camp of Tadki police station area. He shot himself in the head with his service rifle in the camp itself. Hearing the sound of firing, fellow soldiers ran to the spot, where the dead body of the soldier was lying. At present, no information has been received as to why the soldier shot himself. Fellow soldiers informed the officers about the incident. After it, the body of the deceased soldier was sent to Antagarh for postmortem. Kanker SP I.K. Alesela said that the family members of the deceased soldier have been informed. This is the third incident in the last 10 days, in which the soldier committed suicide by shooting himself. Earlier, jawans had shot themselves in Dantewada and Durg districts.
