Collector-SP Conference: Emphasis on law enforcement

* CM calls for swift justice

RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai called for a decisive approach to law enforcement and swift justice for victims during his address at the ongoing Collector-SP Conference at the New Circuit House in Raipur on Friday.

He stressed the necessity of instilling a fear of the law among criminals and ensuring that justice is delivered promptly to victims.

Sai emphasized the critical need to maintain public trust in the police, advocating for a more approachable and supportive attitude from law enforcement. He urged police stations to foster environments where citizens feel secure and assured of assistance.

He asked Collectors and Superintendents of Police to enhance coordination and take robust action against crime state-wide. Highlighting recent amendments to the Penal Code, now known as the Code of Justice, he called on officers to familiarize themselves with these new regulations and implement them effectively.

Focus on Social Policing and Crime Prevention

Sai advocated for a renewed emphasis on social policing to strengthen community relations and curb crime. Addressing specific issues, he called for stringent measures against cow smuggling and drug abuse, and a comprehensive campaign against illegal activities such as alcohol smuggling, gambling, and cannabis trafficking.

He also highlighted the need for timely and effective investigations into serious crimes like murder, insisting that such cases be prioritized and resolved swiftly. He warned against mere paperwork for district expulsion orders and preventive actions, insisting these measures be actively enforced.

Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Sales and Fraudulent Activities

Expressing concern over the illegal sale of liquor and associated protection allegations, Sai demanded a complete halt to such activities. He criticized inefficiencies in investigations and vowed zero tolerance for negligence. Additionally, he called for immediate action against fraudulent practices in the Farmer's Honour Fund.

While noting a decrease in crime rates in the Bilaspur police range, he urged further improvements in police efficiency, particularly in the Durg region where unresolved murder and robbery cases remain a concern. Although he acknowledged progress in the Rajnandgaon police range, including the successful implementation of the Trinetra app, he emphasized that further efforts are needed.

Enhanced Road Safety and Land Mafia Surveillance

Sai also voiced concerns over rising road accidents and stressed the need for increased public education on traffic safety, including the importance of seat belts and helmets.

In the Raipur police range, he underscored the importance of maintaining high policing standards in the state capital. The Chief Minister highlighted issues of land encroachment by land mafias and instructed joint monitoring by the police and revenue departments.

Campaign against Drugs and Night Patrolling

The Chief Minister called for stringent action against narcotic drug sales, urging the dismantling of the illegal drug trade network and launching extensive awareness campaigns in schools and colleges. He also emphasized the need for enhanced night patrolling in Raipur to combat organized crime effectively.

The conference, attended by Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, and other senior officials.
