RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: The paddy procurement season in Chhattisgarh is set to start on November 14, with the state government purchasing paddy at a support price of Rs 3,100 per quintal.
In the current Kharif season, over 25.75 lakh farmers have registered, an increase of one lakh from last year, with the cultivation area expanded by 2 lakh hectares to reach 32.5 lakh hectares. The procureent will continue until January 31, 2025.
To streamline the process, electronic weighing machines will be used at all procurement centres, and farmers will receive mobile notifications informing them of their designated selling dates. The government has arranged seating, drinking water, and internet facilities at the centres for farmers' convenience.
A record-breaking target of 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been set for this year, surpassing last year's 144.92 lakh metric tonnes. The state has also secured 30,000 bales of gunny bags and plans to complete paddy lifting by March 31.
