Union ministry approves Rs 230 cr for solid waste management

RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved Rs 230 crore for solid waste management in Chhattisgarh's urban bodies. The funding, sanctioned under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), will enhance infrastructure and technical arrangements for waste management across the state, making it more robust and sustainable.

Chief Minister Sai, expressing gratitude to the Government of India for the support, stated that this funding will elevate the Swachh Bharat Mission’s efforts in urban areas, contributing to cleaner and healthier environments in every urban body. With the assistance, waste management infrastructure in Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and Nagar Panchayats will be significantly improved, ensuring necessary technical, physical, and human resources are mobilized to strengthen the state's waste management system. It will enhance sanitation and provide citizens with a healthier environment.

Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Sao, during his recent visit to New Delhi, met with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal to request central government support for strengthening solid waste management in the state’s cities. Following the discussions and the proposals submitted by the State Government’s Urban Administration Department, the Union Ministry approved Rs 230 crore for Chhattisgarh. Deputy Chief Minister Sao emphasized that the initiative will contribute to a clean and green Chhattisgarh, noting the importance of every citizen’s active participation in achieving complete cleanliness in daily life.
