GoI, state committed for holistic development of tribes: Sai

BALOD,CG,BHARAT: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the commitment of both the Government of India and the Chhattisgarh Government to the holistic development of tribal communities. 

He highlighted the numerous welfare schemes implemented by the central and state governments for the advancement of tribal society. Sai was addressing the Tribal Pride Day and Kanwar Samaj conference held in Bhathagaon (B), Gunderdehi block, Balod district.

The Chief Minister in his address praised the bravery of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, who fought valiantly against British rule to defend his identity, culture, and homeland and was martyred at just 25. Sai announced Rs 25 lakh for the government recognition and renovation of the Kanwar community's Higher Secondary School in Bhathagaon B, Rs 50 lakh for the construction of a community centre for the Pankra Kanwar tribal community in Rengakathera village, and Rs 10 lakh for developing the Ram Satta Sthal at the Ram Temple in Ward 10, Gunderdehi. The event was presided over by Harbansh Miri, State President of Kanwar Samaj.

Chief Minister Sai paid homage to Lord Birsa Munda and Saint Gahira Guru, acknowledging the pivotal role tribal leaders have played in India’s freedom struggle and societal rebuilding. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s designation of November 15, Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary, as Tribal Pride Day serves to honor tribal heritage and inspire future generations by celebrating the achievements of tribal heroes. The recognition has bolstered pride within the tribal community.

Sai also acknowledged the contributions of Shaheed Thaman Singh Thakur and Zamindar Dau Girdhari Singh from Bhathagaon (B) for promoting education in the village. Prior to the program, he visited their memorials and paid his respects. Additionally, the Chief Minister visited various departmental stalls set up at the event, recognizing the efforts showcased in tribal development.
