RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Students from Shabri Kalyan Ashram, hailing from various northeastern states, visited Raj Bhavan to celebrate the foundation day of Assam and Nagaland. The event, held under the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” initiative of the Central Government, featured vibrant cultural presentations showcasing the rich traditions of the Northeast.
Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka congratulated the people of Assam and Nagaland. In his address, he emphasized the unity in diversity that defines India, stating, “Our country is a beautiful confluence of cultures, languages, and traditions. Celebrating the foundation days of different states fosters a spirit of togetherness.”
Around 40 students from Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura, currently studying at Shabri Kalyan Ashram in Raipur, participated in the event. They performed traditional folk dances and presented cultural artifacts to the Governor, who welcomed them with Chhattisgarh’s traditional attire.
Governor Deka highlighted the shared cultural ties between Assam and Chhattisgarh, noting similarities in their heritage. He praised Assam for its globally renowned tea and expressed optimism about Chhattisgarh's potential for tea production, citing the state's favorable natural environment.
Speaking about Nagaland, the Governor lauded its vibrant culture and history of bravery, mentioning the contributions of freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu to India's independence.
Sonmoni Borah, representing Assam, and Sangamai, representing Nagaland, spoke about their states' unique cultural and historical significance.
The event was attended by former MP Nathubhai Patel, Raj Bhavan Secretary Yashwant Kumar, officials, representatives from the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, and other dignitaries.
