RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: In a major review meeting held at the Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced significant progress in the fight against Naxalism, claiming that his government has waged a decisive battle against the insurgency in just 11 months.
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma and senior state officials in the meeting focused on evaluating past efforts and strategizing future actions to eradicate Naxalism by March 2026, in line with the Union Home Minister’s vision.
Chief Minister Sai emphasized the transformation underway in Bastar, a region long affected by Naxal activities. "Bastar is now free from Naxalism and is progressing toward development," he stated, highlighting the success of public participation initiatives like the recently concluded Bastar Olympics. He called for the intensification of public awareness campaigns to encourage more Naxals to surrender.
The Chief Minister also asked to expedited construction of 15,000 houses for surrendered Naxals and families of Naxal victims under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
“Improving the standard of living for local communities and achieving new milestones in development remain the government's top priorities”, he added, expressing confidence in collective efforts to make Chhattisgarh entirely Naxal-free.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma echoed these sentiments, outlining the government's proactive measures to dismantle Naxal networks. He stressed the importance of involving civil society in the campaign and intensifying surrender initiatives. Sharma also called for breaking the financial backbone of Naxal groups, ensuring a holistic approach to eliminating the insurgency.
The meeting covered several key topics, including the expansion of the security grid, establishment of new camps in Naxal-affected areas, rehabilitation and housing schemes for surrendered Naxals, and the implementation of a Joint Action Plan.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manoj Pingua, and senior police officials Pradeep Gupta, SRP Kalluri, Vivekananda Sinha, and Amit Kumar, along with Secretary to the Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat and Home Secretary Sushma Das.
