RAIPUR,CG,BHARAT: Chhattisgarh marked a significant milestone in rural development with the signing of two key MoUs aimed at boosting the dairy and forest produce sectors. The agreements, signed in the presence of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, are set to empower farmers and tribal communities while strengthening the rural economy.
One MoU was inked between the Chhattisgarh government and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for the development of the dairy industry. Another was signed between the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Union Limited and National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) to enhance forest produce marketing and certification.
Amit Shah emphasized Chhattisgarh's natural wealth and highlighted the potential of organic farming and cooperative ventures to revitalize agriculture and boost farmers’ incomes. Sharing Gujarat’s success with organic fertilizers, he underscored the importance of sustainability for health and land fertility. He also stressed fair pricing and better marketing for forest produce, empowering tribal communities.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai lauded the agreements as an example of the ‘double engine’ government's swift and impactful governance. He noted that the NDDB partnership would bring technical expertise, improve milk production, and expand cooperative societies across 3850 villages, benefitting 1.5 lakh cattle herders. Efforts to increase milk collection from 75,000 to 5 lakh kilolitres per day and establish bio-fertilizer plants are key components of the plan.
