CG: Once echo of bullets, now sound of development: CM

DANTEWADA: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday stated, “Where bullets once echoed, now the sound of progress resonates. Rural youth are being empowered with education and employment, moving towards self-reliance.”

He emphasized the transformation in Bastar, highlighting the shift from conflict to development during a ceremony in Kirandul, Dantewada. Speaking at the event, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth over ₹160 crore.

Sai outlined significant projects, including a ₹33 crore bridge on the Chhindnar-Badekarka road, housing for 321 beneficiaries under the Mor Makaan-Mor Awas scheme, and water conservation and purification plants worth ₹60 crore. The event also included distribution of checks and materials worth ₹114 crore for beneficiary-oriented schemes.

The government’s initiatives aim to uplift villages, farmers, and the underprivileged. Sai announced increased rates for tendu leaf collectors and the distribution of agricultural tools under the Niyya Nellanar Scheme. “Our efforts are visibly improving the living standards of forest dwellers,” he said, adding that free mobile phones are being distributed to 1,200 families in remote areas to boost connectivity.

Women’s empowerment was another focus, with the Chief Minister mentioning monthly financial deposits into women’s accounts, enhancing their independence. He also highlighted the Bastar Olympics, which drew 1.65 lakh participants and garnered praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dantewada’s mineral wealth and organic agriculture potential are being leveraged for holistic development. Plans are underway to establish a zoo park to conserve wildlife and promote tourism, alongside efforts to make organic fertilizers available in all ration shops.

Sai reaffirmed the state’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable growth, extending best wishes for Chherchera and Makar Sankranti to all.
