RAIPUR,INDIA: A special inspection by the Chhattisgarh Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Chhattisgarh of 28 hospitals in Raipur, Durg, and Bilaspur resulted in the cancellation of registration for 15 hospitals for one year. Additionally, four hospitals were suspended for six months, four for three months, and five received warning letters.
The department has taken strict action against hospitals involved in fraudulent claims under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme.
The National Anti-Fraud Unit of the National Health Authority (NHA) flagged suspicious claims, prompting the Chhattisgarh government to conduct a detailed investigation. A joint team of doctors and administrative officials carried out physical inspections, assessing two hospitals per day. Show-cause notices were issued to all 28 hospitals where irregularities were detected, and responses were reviewed before final action was taken.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring healthcare services remain accessible and free from corruption. He warned that any hospital engaging in irregularities will face strict consequences.
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal reaffirmed the state’s commitment to transparency in healthcare schemes, stating that violations of hospital regulations will not be tolerated.
The benefits of Ayushman Yojana reach only the targetted beneficiaries in the right form, to ensure that the Government of Chhattisgarh will keep a strict monitoring and similar action will continue.
