RAIPUR,INDIA: The Health Department has taken action against 28 hospitals in Chhattisgarh over alleged irregularities in the government’s Ayushman scheme. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has strongly opposed the move, demanding an immediate withdrawal of the penalties.
During the crackdown, 15 hospitals were delisted from the Ayushman scheme, while others faced temporary suspensions. The Health Department stated that serious violations were uncovered during inspections, necessitating strict action. This decision has sparked outrage among medical professionals across the state.
A large meeting of the IMA was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College lecture hall, where hospital operators and members voiced concerns over the process. They alleged that the department did not consider their response to show-cause notices before taking action. Additionally, they accused the government of delaying payments under the Ayushman scheme while unfairly penalizing hospitals.
Following the meeting, the IMA submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through Collectorate official Naveen Singh Thakur. Their three main demands include the immediate reversal of actions against hospitals, timely payment of pending dues under the Ayushman scheme, and compensation with interest for delayed payments.
The IMA warned that if the government does not revoke the penalties within a week, all private hospitals in the state may go on strike after a larger state-level meeting.
The meeting was attended by IMA Secretary Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, Dr. Sanjeev Srivastava, Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Raipur Hospital Board Secretary Dr. Gambhir Singh, State Hospital Board Chairman Dr. Surendra Shukla, and several senior doctors.
