RAIPUR,INDIA: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the importance of education in the progress of society while addressing the annual conference of the Khadia Scheduled Tribes Utthan Samiti. He urged intellectuals and youth to prioritize education and guide the next generation toward a brighter future.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stated that true progress for the tribal community can only be achieved through a balanced focus on education, economic empowerment, and social unity. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to uplifting all sections of society and assured that significant developmental strides would be witnessed in the coming years. Highlighting the importance of education and unity, he said they are essential for the prosperity of society, the state, and the nation.
Reflecting on the historical journey of the Khadia community, Sai acknowledged the landmark decision in 2011 that granted the community Scheduled Tribe status. He praised former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh for his role in securing this recognition.
The event commenced with tributes to Mata Saraswati and freedom fighter Telanga Khadia. Among the dignitaries present were MLA and Vice President of Surguja Area Development Authority Gomti Sai, former MLA Bharat Sai, and community leaders.
Chief Minister Sai outlined several initiatives benefiting tribal and forest-dwelling communities. He announced an increase in the tendu leaf collection rate from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 per standard bag, benefiting millions of collectors. Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, ₹1,000 per month is being provided to 70 lakh women to strengthen their financial independence. Additionally, the Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Labor Welfare Scheme is offering ₹10,000 annually to landless farm workers, ensuring direct support to the most vulnerable sections of society.
The Chief Minister also highlighted schemes aimed at educational and overall development. He mentioned the PM Janman Yojana and Dharti Aba Tribal Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, which focus on tribal welfare. To support tribal students preparing for the UPSC exams, the number of seats in the Tribal Youth Hostel in Dwarka, Delhi, has been increased from 50 to 185.
Furthermore, 341 schools in the state have been brought under the PM SHRI scheme to provide high-quality education, ensuring students receive facilities comparable to those in private institutions.
