Good Governance Priority: MoU Signed

RAIPUR,INDIA: The Chhattisgarh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS) and Transforming Rural India (TRI) to enhance governance, transparency, and administrative efficiency. The agreement, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, aims to improve policymaking, financial management, and the monitoring of government initiatives.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized the government's commitment to utilizing public resources efficiently and strengthening citizen-centric administration. He highlighted the role of the newly established Department of Good Governance and Convergence, which will drive transparency and accountability in governance. He expressed confidence that the MoU would bring transformative reforms in financial management and policy implementation.

The agreement includes a focus on digital governance, integrating e-governance solutions, real-time monitoring systems, and grievance redressal mechanisms. The Chief Minister stated that digital transformation would empower government employees and youth through skill development while improving the execution of policies and strengthening anti-corruption measures.

Karthik Muralidharan, Founder of CEGIS, stated that the organization would provide technical and strategic assistance in policy execution, budgeting, and financial management. He emphasized that data-driven policymaking and fiscal reforms would enhance governance in the state.

Under the MoU with TRI, efforts will focus on rural development, including education, healthcare, water conservation, and women’s empowerment. Shreesh Kalyani, Associate Director of TRI, highlighted the organization’s aim to strengthen local governance, encourage community participation, and promote rural development in key sectors such as agriculture and climate adaptation.

Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary underscored the significance of the partnership in realizing Chhattisgarh’s vision of good governance. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Department of Good Governance and Convergence, CEGIS, and TRI in facilitating the agreement.

The MoU marks a significant step in Chhattisgarh’s governance reforms, ensuring efficient policy implementation and transparent utilization of public resources. The signing ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Singh, Secretary of the Department of Good Governance and Convergence Rahul Bhagat, and representatives from CEGIS and TRI.
