RAIPUR,INDIA: In a groundbreaking initiative, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College on Wednesday launched tele-classes to enhance medical education using modern telecommunications technology. Dr. Arvind Neral, the senior-most medical educator in Chhattisgarh delivered the first lecture held in Lecture Room 02, the session focused on HIV/AIDS, covering fundamental aspects of the disease, including the structure of the HIV virus and the transmission of infection.
Dr. Vivek Chaudhary, Superitendent of Medical College Raipur, expressed immense pride, emphasizing that tele-classes will enable lectures to be streamed live across all government medical colleges in Chhattisgarh. The advancement will be particularly beneficial for institutions facing a shortage of experienced medical educators.
To facilitate, Lecture Room 02 has been equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual and video conferencing technology. The project was spearheaded by Dr. Sumit Tripathi, Professor and Head of the Department of Physiology, who played a key role in its technical implementation. The efforts of Ritu Kaushik and Tarachand Pausharya were also instrumental in making this initiative a reality. In recognition of their contributions, Dr. Vivek Chaudhary honored them with citations.
The live broadcast of the lecture was made available to students and faculty members in government medical colleges across Bilaspur, Ambikapur, Mahasamund, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Kanker, and Korba. Dr. P.K. Luka and Dr. Suparna Ganguly from CIMS Bilaspur lauded the modern educational facility, highlighting its effectiveness in bridging the gap in medical teaching.
Looking ahead, Dr. Arvind announced that starting March 2025, such tele-lectures will be held regularly for final-year MBBS students. A detailed subject-wise timetable has already been prepared and will be distributed to all medical colleges for smooth execution.
