HNLU Raipur to hold 8th Convocation on March 8

RAIPUR,INDIA: Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, will hold its 8th Convocation on March 8, 2025, at Hotel Babylon Capital, Raipur. The event will see the graduation of 161 students from the B.A.LL.B. (Hons) program, with 125 receiving their degrees in person and 26 in absentia. Additionally, 90 students from the LL.M. program will graduate, with 57 attending in person and 30 in absentia. One Ph.D. scholar will also receive their degree. A total of 36 gold medals will be awarded to students for academic excellence.

Justice P.S. Narasimha, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, will serve as the Chief Guest and deliver the Convocation Address. The ceremony will also be attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Supreme Court Judge Prashant Kumar Mishra, and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao as Guests of Honour. Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court and Chancellor of HNLU, will confer the degrees. Other notable participants include Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal, Justice P. Sam Koshy, and Justice G. Raghuram, along with several distinguished academicians.

Over the past year, HNLU has made significant strides in legal education. The university launched the Chhattisgarh Legal Education & Research Network (CG-LEARN) and the Visiting International Scholars Academy (H-VISA). It also signed key agreements, including its first international memorandum of understanding with the School of Law at Texas A&M University, as well as an MoU with the Chhattisgarh Police to provide training on new criminal laws. In addition, HNLU hosted its first International Moot Court Competition (HIMCC) and the NHRC National Moot Court Competition.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vivekanandan was appointed as the President of the Consortium of National Law Universities. The university also organized its annual Memorial Lecture Series, featuring eminent speakers such as Justice Dipak Misra, Justice UU Lalit, and Prof. R. Venkat Rao. HNLU continued its academic contributions by publishing two volumes of the HNLU Journal of Law & Social Science and editions of the HNLU Gazette. The upcoming convocation will also mark the release of an edited book on Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, and Fintech.

HNLU has consistently advanced legal education and has gained national recognition. The university was ranked fifth among India’s top law colleges by India Today. The convocation ceremony will be live-streamed on HNLU’s YouTube channel, allowing a wider audience to participate.
