RAIPUR,INDIA: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met with a delegation from the Tamil Nadu Kaveri Farmers Protection Association at his office in the Assembly on Wednesday. The farmers, in keeping with their tradition, honoured the Chief Minister by presenting a garland made of paddy and paan, along with gifts of red bananas, mangoes, coconut plants, and jackfruit. Shri Sai expressed his gratitude for their warm gesture. The meeting was also attended by Anbalgan P, Secretary of the Department of Culture.
During the meeting, Tamil Nadu farmers praised the Chhattisgarh government's paddy procurement policy, which offers the highest support price in the country. They acknowledged the initiative of purchasing paddy at ₹3,100 per quintal as a historic step towards the economic empowerment of farmers.
Association General Secretary Swamimalai Sundar Vimal Nathan emphasized that a fair support price ensures that farmers receive proper compensation for their hard work. When farmers are assured of financial security, they can focus on increasing productivity and treating agriculture as a stable livelihood. He added that Chhattisgarh's farmer-friendly approach should serve as an example for other states.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reaffirmed his government's commitment to the welfare of farmers. He stated that ensuring the highest support price and timely payment remains a top priority. The policies implemented by the Chhattisgarh government have led to a significant increase in paddy production, reaching nearly 1.50 lakh metric tonnes. This growth marks an important milestone in the state's agricultural sector.
Tamil Nadu farmers acknowledged Chhattisgarh's agricultural policies as a model for the nation. They noted that farmer-centric policies directly impact income, living standards, and overall prosperity. The meeting symbolized mutual cooperation between farmers from both states, highlighting the importance of pro-farmer governance.
The delegation included several prominent farmer leaders, including Cherran, Kalia Perumal, Samenathan, Senguttuvan, Sugumaran, Balaji, Sitaraman, Sabri Nathan, and G. Balaji.
