RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: The people of Bastar embrace life as a celebration, deeply rooted in their rich cultural heritage. To preserve and promote their folk traditions, efforts are being intensified to establish peace in the region. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, while unveiling Bastar Pandum 2025 at the assembly premises on Wednesday, emphasized the significance of this cultural festival in safeguarding Bastar's folk life and traditions. Surrounded by artists performing to the beats of Mandar, he extended his best wishes for the event’s success, highlighting its role in providing a strong platform for local talent and passing down cultural heritage to future generations. On the occasion, he also released the official booklet of Bastar Pandum.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the development of Bastar and its integration into the mainstream remain top priorities for the government. He stressed the commitment to eradicating Maoism from the region, citing the enthusiastic participation of Bastar’s residents in events like the Bastar Olympics and the Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon as clear signs of their growing engagement with governance and their desire for lasting peace.
A major initiative announced in the budget includes the establishment of a hospital in a village once affected by Naxalite violence. Additionally, under the Need Nella Nella Nar scheme, the government is swiftly addressing the basic needs of Bastar’s people.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the simplicity and vibrant spirit of Bastar’s residents, who celebrate every occasion in their unique way. He noted that Bastar Pandum offers an opportunity to experience the region’s real essence up close. The festival will feature competitions in seven categories, including dance, music, folk art, drama, crafts, customs, traditions, and cuisine. Emphasizing the vision for a prosperous Bastar, he affirmed the commitment to ensuring that people live without fear and enjoy all the benefits of governance while preserving their cultural identity.
