JASHPUR,CG,INDIA: In a landmark move for aviation education, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated Jashpur’s first aviation training program at the Aagdih Airstrip. The initiative represents a significant step forward in positioning Chhattisgarh as a centre for aviation skill development. Addressing cadets from the 3 CG Air Squadron NCC Raipur, the Chief Minister commended their enthusiasm and highlighted Jashpur’s evolution beyond tourism and agriculture into a hub for advanced training opportunities.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, he emphasized the state’s dedication to supporting aspiring pilots in achieving their dreams. The Chief Minister noted that the program is about more than just flying; it aims to equip young individuals with essential skills, establish Jashpur as a leading aviation training destination, and enhance Chhattisgarh’s presence in the national aviation sector.
During his visit, he extended best wishes to the NCC cadets, trainers, and officials, urging them to take full advantage of this opportunity. He expressed confidence that with perseverance and training, the youth of Chhattisgarh would soon make their mark in the aviation industry.
While inspecting the Microlight Air Squadron aircraft, he received detailed technical briefings and directed officials to organize educational visits for cadets to Jashpur’s prominent tourist and ecological sites. He also acknowledged Jashpur’s expanding agricultural influence, with cashew, tea, and apple cultivation thriving in the region.
Since March 7, 2025, cadets have been undergoing intensive aviation training at sunrise, gaining hands-on experience in takeoffs, mid-air maneuvers, and landings. This marks the first aviation program of its kind outside Raipur, generating enthusiasm among the 100 participating NCC cadets.
The Aagdih Airstrip, featuring a 1,200-meter-long and 25-meter-wide runway, provides an ideal setting for flight instruction. Cadets train on the Virus SW-80, a single-engine, twin-seater aircraft capable of reaching altitudes of 20,000 feet. For safety and practical learning, training flights currently operate at 1,000 feet.
According to the Commanding Officer, cadets who excel in the ‘C’ Certificate exam will be directly eligible for Indian Air Force interviews, marking a critical milestone in their aviation careers.
Sharing his excitement, trainee Nitesh Prajapati praised Jashpur’s pollution-free skies and tranquil atmosphere, calling it an ideal location for aviation training. He stated, "My goal is to become an Air Force pilot, and this program is my pathway to success."
Another cadet, Pranshu Chauhan, emphasized the benefits of Jashpur’s clear airspace and obstruction-free runway, which facilitate uninterrupted learning. He remarked, "Training in such a pristine natural environment is an unforgettable experience. The absence of urban air traffic congestion enhances our focus and efficiency."
