RAIPUR,CG,INDIA: Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, a Central University accredited with NAAC A++, recently organized a two-day skill development workshop on the development of herbal products from marigold. The event, held under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal, aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills through experiential learning.
Professor Neelambari Dave, former Vice-Chancellor of Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat, emphasized the vast potential in the field of herbal product development using marigold flowers. She highlighted that such workshops help participants gain professional expertise in product manufacturing and marketing, fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
The workshop delved into the medicinal and aromatic properties of marigold, essential oil extraction methods, and the application of advanced equipment like HPLC, FTIR, and UV-Visible Spectrophotometers in product development. The sessions were coordinated by Professor Charu Arora, with Dr. B. Mondal serving as the organizing secretary. Dr. Aarti Srivastava delivered the vote of thanks, while Dr. Jyoti Verma conducted the session. Technical sessions were led by Dr. Amit Khaskalam and Harsh Sudarshan. A total of 208 participants from across the country attended the workshop in both online and offline modes.
The event featured lectures by renowned experts, including Professor Geeta Tiwari and Professor Lalit Mohan Tiwari from Kumaun University, Dhruv Arora from Jubilant FoodWorks, Dr. R.S. Verma from CSIR-CIMAP, Professor A.K. Jain from IILM University, Dr. Suchandra Chatterjee from BARC, and Dr. D.K. Verma from Digvijay College. Through hands-on training and expert insights, the workshop provided participants with valuable skills and opportunities to explore entrepreneurship in the herbal product industry.
