RAIPUR,CG (INDIA): Polymatech Electronics, India's first semiconductor company headquartered in Chennai, has taken a major step forward by starting work on its second manufacturing plant in the country. The foundation stone for the new unit was laid in Sector-5, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai performing the bhoomipoojan. The ceremony was attended by key state officials and Polymatech’s Managing Director and CEO, Eswara Rao Nandam.
Chief Minister Sai highlighted that Chhattisgarh is ready to welcome industries of the future and that Polymatech's new plant reflects the state’s strong infrastructure, skilled workforce, and supportive policies. He emphasized that the project will generate employment and help build a robust electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the region. He also assured the company of full support from the state government.
The upcoming facility represents an investment of ₹1,143 crore, first announced at the Chhattisgarh Investor Connect 2024 in New Delhi. The project benefits from a capital subsidy under a public-private partnership model, aiming to position Chhattisgarh as a hub for semiconductor production in India.
Eswara Rao Nandam, in his remarks, said the plant will expand the company’s product range to meet growing demand for advanced telecom and industrial semiconductor components. The plant will focus on producing Gallium Nitride (GaN) based components for 5G and 6G infrastructure, helping both domestic and international markets. The facility also aims to foster innovation, train skilled workers, and create a strong supply chain.
Spanning 300,000 square feet, the plant will produce high-performance components for advanced telecom use. It will feature GaN technology known for energy efficiency and will implement 6G base station architecture designed to improve signal quality while reducing energy use.
The project supports India’s broader goals of reducing import dependency and boosting local manufacturing under initiatives like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. With India’s semiconductor demand projected to reach $64 billion by 2026 and $110 billion by 2030, Polymatech’s plant is expected to play a vital role.
Operations at the Nava Raipur facility are set to begin next year, with the company expecting to create over 600 jobs. Polymatech, which also operates in the US and Bahrain, supports key industries such as telecom, AI, robotics, and healthcare—making it a key player in the global digital landscape.
