A scientist conducts research selflessly for the benefit of society: Vice-Chancellor

Two-Day Science Congress organized by the Department of Botany, CU

BILASPUR, CG (INDIA):. The Department of Botany, under the Faculty of Life Sciences at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (a Central University), which is accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC, organized a two-day GGV Student Science Congress (GSSC-2025) on July 2425, 2025, with support from DST-FIST.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Student Science Congress held on July 24, 2025, the dignitaries on stage included the e Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal; Professor Neelambari Dave, Former Vice-Chancellor of Saurashtra University, Gujarat; University Registrar, Professor A.S. Ranadive; Professor Seema Rai, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences; and Professor H.S. Tiwari, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences.

The Chief Guest of the event, Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal, stated that scientists carry out research selflessly for the welfare of society and the nation. He emphasized that while research, innovation, and investigation require resources, it is not possible to conduct meaningful research based solely on resources. A curious nature and logical reasoning are essential for good research.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Saurashtra University, Professor Neelambari Dave, congratulated the students on the successful organization of the seminar and encouraged them to pursue high-quality research.

Key Contributions of Student Coordinators

In this student-led Science Congress, Anurag Dwivedi and Ms. Chandralekha Pipariya served as coordinators. The co-coordinator was Ms. Bharti Swain, while the organizing secretaries were Mrs. Priyanka Kumari and Ms. Shivali Sharma.

The program began with a prayer to Goddess Saraswati and the university Kulgeet. The convener of the seminar, Ms. Chandralekha Pipariya, delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests on stage. On this occasion, a souvenir of the congress was also released. The dignitaries were felicitated with stoles and mementos. Anurag Dwivedi proposed the vote of thanks, and Mrs. Priyanka Kumari, the organizing secretary, conducted the program.

A total of 160 participants from various prestigious higher education institutions across the country took part in the seminar through both online and offline modes. The event also saw the presence of deans, heads of departments, faculty members, university officials, and a large number of students.
