Orientation Programme – Amity University Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR, CG (INDIA): Amity University Chhattisgarh warmly welcomed its newest batch of students on Wednesday with a vibrant and inspiring orientation programme at the Raipur campus. The day was marked by memorable moments and words of encouragement, setting the stage for the students’ exciting journey ahead.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. C.R. Prasanna, IAS, Secretary to the Governor of Chhattisgarh, who captivated the audience with his thoughtful address. Dr. Prasanna emphasized the importance of coupling vision with discipline and hard work, sharing an insightful story about a child's innovative thinking and how a clear vision can transform not just an individual’s life, but their family’s as well. He urged students to reframe challenges - not as obstacles but as necessary “brakes” in life. Drawing a vivid analogy, he likened advice from family, teachers, and even institutional rules to the vital brakes that help us steer safely on life’s fast-moving highways. “Use those brakes wisely,” he suggested, “and you will travel far.”

Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Piyush Kant Pandey motivated students to believe in their own unique capabilities and encouraged them to embrace challenges as important steppingstones in the learning process. He assured them that Amity would serve as a nurturing ground for their growth and potential, reminding them that setbacks are simply opportunities to learn and grow stronger.

Chancellor Dr. W. Selvamurthy underscored Amity’s commitment to holistic development, sharing the vision of nurturing “future global citizens” who are not only well-versed in knowledge and skills, including soft skills and values, but are also resilient in the face of challenges. Drawing inspiration from the late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he quoted, “Dream is not that which you see while sleeping, it is something that does not let you sleep” -encouraging students to chase meaningful dreams that contribute to the nation’s progress.

Adding to the university’s commitment, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr.) Sumita Dave assured students of a curriculum seamlessly integrated with technology and industry needs, ensuring they are well-prepared for the future.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dean of Students’ Welfare, Professor (Dr.) Prasanna Kumar Sharma. The orientation programme continues with several interactive sessions designed to help students settle in and thrive. The programme will wrap up on Thursday.
