RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemning the incident of lynching of sadhus in Durg district, said the government failed to curb rumours in time.
BJP State president and MP Arun Sao said now no one is safe in the state. Never such an atmosphere of anarchy in the state. The incident had occurred in the home district of the Chief Minister and Home Minister.
If someone is spreading rumors in the state, why the government could not curb it in time?. The police have not given any statement on the incident, he said to the media.
He said even the District Superintendent of Police himself had confirmed that there is no case of child theft. So, the incident could be averted.
After Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh witnessed lynching of three sadhus after rumours of child theft at Charoda under Bhilai-3 police station limits. The local residents had thrashed them, as they were seeking alms. Police admitted all the three to the hospital. They have been discharged after medical treatment.
Superintendent Police Durg Abhishek Pallav has urged people not to keep away from rumours being spread through social media. Police had filed an FIR against the villagers.
