RAIPUR: The Bhanupratappur state assembly constituency by-election in Chhattisgarh on Monday recorded an interim 71.44 percent of polling. No untoward incident was reported except for some glitches in machines.
Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh Reena Babasaheb Kangale said the polling was by and large peaceful. There were no interruptions in the 256 polling booths of the constituency.
She congratulated all the officers-employees and polling personnel for holding the polls peacefully without any hitch.
The Returning Officer's Office of Bhanupratappur Assembly Constituency, said the polling ended by 3 pm, the polling percentage stood at 71.74. The male voters recorded 73.25 percent while it was 70.31 percent female voters. The total eligible voters were 1,95,822.
The RO office stated that after two hours of polling began at 7.00 am, the polling percent at 9.00 am was 9.89 percent. It rose to 31.27 percent polling till 11.00 am and reached 50.83 percent ending with 71.74 percent by 3.00 pm.
It is added that a ballot unit, a control unit and seven Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines were replaced due to technical glitches during the mock-poll conducted by the polling parties ahead of polling. During the actual polling, three VVPAT machines were replaced due to technical glitches.
