CG News: BJP is against reservation: CM

RAIPUR: Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are double faced which is reflected in all the statements during discussion for the reservation amendment bill, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Wednesday.

Before leaving for Basna as part of direct public interaction (Bhent Mulaqat), Baghel said if one takes out the details of address of BJP leader Ajay Chandrakar in State Assembly, he had clearly stated of being against the reservation. But he is bound by the party.

“Same is the status of every BJP leader. They are against reservation whether it is about giving 32% to Scheduled Tribes or 27% to other backward classes, or 13% to Scheduled Castes or 4% to general category. They are not at all ready to give the reservation,” he said.

One BJP leader says, what was being done in the last 70 days. Another leader said why it has been brought early. Clarity will come on the stand of BJP leaders like Leader of Opposition, Dharamlal Kaushik, Raman Singh and others, he pointed out.

As the BJP leaders speak on both sides of the issue, they are double faced and are not in support of the reservation amendment bill, he said.

The Governor had stated of signing the reservation amendment bill at the earliest. The pressure tactics of BJP leaders, she is backtracking stating that bill was sought for reservation of Scheduled Tribes, as she hails from tribal community. Her simplicity is being misused, Baghel said.

“The bill cannot be brought for a single community. The officials advised that the bill needs to be brought for all as per the constitutional norms and other statutory requirements,” he said.

Baghel said as the bill has been passed unanimously by the state government, the Governor should give her consent on it.

Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey on December 10 had stated that she is not in a hurry to sign the reservation amendment bill. Legal opinion is being sought and certain queries will be raised before the state government after it.
